Ayman Ahmed Abdul Ghani

Eng. Ayman Ahmed Abdul Ghani was born in November 1964 in Zagaziq, Sharqiya (north of Cairo).
He graduated in the Faculty of Engineering (civil) in 1986
He got married in 1996 to a daughter of Eng. Khairat Al-Shater and has four children: Sara, Anas, Salman and Habiba.

His late father was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood group and he died in 1979; his elder brother Mohamed, an ophthalmologist, is a Muslim Brotherhood member and is also currently detained and was sentenced for three years after a 1995 military tribunal; his brother Omar, an otolaryngologist, is a Muslim Brotherhood member; he has two sisters older than his as he is the youngest.

He was detained for the first time detained on his graduation year, 1986, for a few days during the feast days.
He was detained again for a month in 1992 as part of the crackdown on Sharqiya, and was released on Consultation Room ruling.
He was detained for the third time in 1994 for 6 1/2 months within the state security crackdown against the Muslim Brotherhood for its protesting at the World Population Conference and the issue of removing the veil at schools, an issue which was launched by the Minister of Education.
In 1998, he was detained for six months, the first time to be detained after his marriage, and the consultation room acquitted and released him.

In 2002, he was detained for 6 months before a ruling of the consultation room released him
In 2004, he was detained for 2 1/2 months.
He was detained in March 2006 for six months to be released in late August 2006 and he was recently detained on Dec. 14, 2006 on the so called Al-Azhar students case, because he is one of the officials of the students section in the Muslim Brotherhood.

He is a civil engineer and works in the Arab Contractors Company from 1989 till now, after he completed his military service as a reserve officer in the army.

Joint Statement We Condemn Egyptian Regime’s Attack Against Opposition, Reject Military Tribunals

We, the undersigned, across political, intellectual and ideological spectrums, declare our outright rejection to the Egyptian regime’s oppressive decision of transferring dozens of leaders from the Muslim Brotherhood group to military tribunals and denying them the constitutional right to appear in front of a civil judge; we declare our full solidarity with the MB leaders transferred to the military courts and with the liberal opponent Ayman Nour who is denied his legal rights in prison, regardless of the political or intellectual differences between them.

We, the undersigned, see that these decisions, of transferring civilians to military courts and staging a siege on Ayman Nour, in addition to other developments, show that the Egyptian autocratic regime insists on maintaining its tyrannical method which is based on repressing freedoms, subverting the will of people and besieging real opposition powers.

Therefore, we declare our full awareness of the government’s current serious measures, as they reflect the insistence of the ruler and his minions on making their authority everlasting, consolidating their powers and maintaining their authoritarian method.

Our feeling of our political responsibility make us, we the undersigned, consider the fierce attack against Al-Ghad (Tomorrow) party and the Muslim Brotherhood group as an attack against all of us, regardless of the political differences, requiring that we close ranks to fight it with all peaceful and legal methods.

Negative effects of past and current detentions

He failed in a year in the Faculty of Engineering – in 1981

was born in the village of Gharin, Monofiya, north of Cairo, on Fed., 29, 1950.

He moved with his family to Cairo in mid 19502s and settled in Kitkat of Greater Cairo.

Al-Sharqawi graduated in the Faculty of Commerce, the Cairo University,

in 1973 and worked as an accountant for a while before moving to Britain.

After contacting a British university, it gave him a scholarship; then, he moved to Britain in 1974 after receiving an exemption from military service because he was his family breadwinner.

He received postgraduate studies in the field of computer in London in 1976; then he traveled to work in Saudi Arabia till 1994.

He got married in 1978 and has three sons:

Names of MB Leaders Referred to Military Court

Cairo public prison administration informed 32 Muslim Brotherhood detainees that their cases have been referred to a military tribunal, according to president Mubarak's decree of ordering 40 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leaders to appear before a military court for the first time of such a measure in about six years .

Lawyer Mostafa Al Demeiri said that the MB detainees told the defense panel that they were officially informed that a military court will investigate into and hear their case no. 963 high state security which known as Al-Azhar students case.

He said that the defense panel is waiting for the military court's delegate to receive the files of investigation with the detainees from the Higher State Security Prosecution in order to set a quick session to hear the case .

Al Demeiri confirmed that the charges against the detainees are still the same: money laundering and using terrorist means to achieve the targets of a currently outlawed group.

He pointed out that the rulings of the military justice are final and can't be challenged or appealed; the defendants in such a military court can only seek amnesty of the president, as he is the military governor, to release him or reduce the sentence.

Eight Muslim Brotherhood members are scheduled to be tried in absentia in front of the military tribunal because five of them are living abroad:

He was arrested on 14-10-1999- in a case known as (the Trade Unionists case) and was court-martialed along with 20 Trade Unionists. He was charged of belonging to The Muslim Brotherhood and of preparing for the Trade Unions" elections. He was sentenced for three years and was released on 8-10-2002

In 1987 he won the election as Member of Parliament- Menoufiyya first Constituency. The Court declared him a winner but the ruling was not executed

Khairat Al-Shatter started his political activities as early as 1966When he was a secondary school studentHe was a founding member of the general Islamic action in 1967 especially in Alexandria where he played pivotal role in establishing the general Islamic awakening (Sahwa) starting early seventiesHe has been a Muslim Brotherhood member since 1974He took the lead in many Muslim Brotherhoodaffairs, inter alia, Education, Human Development and ManagementHe was elected member of Muslim Brotherhood Guidance Bureau in 1995

Al- Shatter has been to prison several times during Nasser and Mubarak eras

In 1968 after participation in the famous students demonstrations that followed the 1967 War, he was kept in prison for four months then dismissed from university .Right after he was released, he was drafted into the Army in the Red Sea town, a far –off area from Cairo and AlexandriaIn 1992

he was imprisoned for one year in the famous Salsabeel caseIn 1995 he was sentenced to five years, along with 54 members of Muslim Brotherhood who were sentenced from three to five years; he was released in July 2000In 2001 he was imprisoned for almost one year in what was known as Imbaba group, a Muslim Brotherhood meeting
